Single-Use Packaging Policy
Colemans Office Supplies Ltd is a stationery supplies reseller and a member of the Office Friendly business community. We recognise the importance of operational and supply chain sustainability through our participation in the Weaver sustainability programme. We are committed to minimising the environmental impact, increasing the sustainability of our operations and complying with all relevant single-use packaging legislation.
At Colemans Office Supplies Ltd the single-use packaging used in our operations includes tertiary packaging such as pallets, secondary packaging such as cardboard boxes strapping and shrink wrap, and packaging including bubble bags, bubble wrap, plastic bag covers and paper filling. All packaging is reviewed and reused or recycled.
Mark Dale – Sales Director & Sean Davis – General Manager is responsible for ensuring that the single-use packaging policy is implemented. However, all employees have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.
Single-use packaging is a key pillar of operational and supply chain sustainability. To meet our goals in single-use packaging, we will:
- Continue to work with our zero-to-landfill waste contractor to remove our impact to landfill
- Make sure best practices are in place for single-use packaging to be collected and reused or recycled.
- Provide reusable glasses/mugs to all employees to remove plastic
- Continue to use re-fillable bottles, i.e. Washing up liquid and handwash
- Measure our single-use packaging waste and set manageable targets for reduction
- Work with customers to collate orders and remove unnecessary waste in transport
- Advise our customers to reuse or recycle any packaging in distribution
- Actively work with suppliers who meet our single-use packaging goals and aspirations
- Maintain employee awareness and training in single-use packaging
- Be legally compliant with existing and future single-use packaging legislation
An action plan will be communicated to our employees, customers and suppliers through the use of our website, general communications and regular staff updates. This single-use packaging policy will be made available to all members of staff so they can see our commitments, initial actions and subsequent results. A full review of this policy will take place on an annual basis.
We provide regular training to our staff to ensure that they are kept informed and included in our single-use packaging activity. New staff receive single-use packaging training as part of their induction. In addition, we will communicate with our customers and suppliers to agree on how they can support our environmental objectives and targets.
